Sonoma County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Virtual Public Meeting

Join Sonoma County for an overview of the draft 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is updated on a five-year cycle and is required to maintain County eligibility for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants. The plan analyzes the County’s risk from natural hazards, identifies County mitigation capabilities, and outlines a strategy that reduces the County’s risk from natural hazards. Sonoma County and 21 participating jurisdictions initiated the plan update in 2024. The planning process was a collaborative effort among County departments, municipal governments, community-based organizations, technical experts, and State and Federal agencies. The public comment period will open October 20, 2025, and will remain open through November 10, 2025.

Join the City of Petaluma and other regional planning partners for a meeting to review the draft 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan is the result of a year-long planning process involving the county, all municipalities, and 12 special districts. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is updated on a five-year cycle and is required to maintain eligibility for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants. The plan analyzes the jurisdiction’s risk from natural hazards, identifies mitigation capabilities, and outlines a strategy that reduces risk from natural hazards. Spanish interpretation will be provided.

November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election

On August 21, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation calling a statewide special election to be held on November 4, 2025. Two local jurisdictions are also having elections on this date: Timber Cove County Water District (four candidates running for three district director seats) and Petaluma Joint Union High School District (Measure I -- Parcel Tax).


Environmental Review Committee Meeting

The function of the Environmental Review Committee (ERC) is to review public projects in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to determine whether a Mitigated Negative Declaration or an Environmental Impact Report is required.

Landmarks Commission Meeting
