The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today directed County staff to begin formal discussions with the City of Santa Rosa, the Sonoma County Fair Board and the United Soccer League to evaluate the Sonoma County Fairgrounds as a potential site for a new multi-purpose professional soccer stadium and mixed-use entertainment district. Deadline to register to vote in Nov. 4 Statewide Special Election is Oct. 20
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 4 Statewide Special Election is Oct. 20, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez reminded residents today. Eligible voters who miss this deadline still have the option to “conditionally” register (also known as “same-day registration”) and vote in person at the Registrar of Voters or at any Vote Center. The Sonoma County Community Development Commission has prepared a draft of the Substantial Amendment to the FY 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan to reprogram $113,295.85 of CDBG-CV funds. The document is available for review and public comment from September 18, 2025 through October 22, 2025. Board of Supervisors, Fair Board to hold special Oct. 17 joint meeting to discuss United Soccer League proposal
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the Sonoma County Fair and Exposition Board of Directors will hold a special joint meeting on Oct. 17 to discuss an expansion proposal from United Soccer League. The USL has expressed interest in expanding into Santa Rosa due to its growing population, strong local economy and high youth soccer participation rates. The Sonoma County Fairgrounds is being considered as a possible site for a multi-purpose stadium and commercial complex. Read full story
Board of Supervisors to hold special October 14 meeting on budget impacts
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold a special evening meeting on Oct. 14 to inform the community about how recent federal actions may impact the County budget and services. In the meeting, County officials and partner agencies will review the anticipated local impacts from executive orders, changes to grant requirements, and the budgetary and policy bill H.R. 1. This meeting is designed to enhance the community’s awareness and assist in preparing for the changes. Read full story
Sonoma County to reopen North Fitch Mountain Road after longstanding landslide repairs
Sonoma County will reopen North Fitch Mountain Road on Friday, Oct. 10 at noon, restoring safe access after years of landslide damage and storm-related closures. The project marks the third priority storm-recovery road repair project to be completed this year, delivering long-term strength and reliability for residents, visitors and emergency responders. Registrar of Voters unveils new online database of election results
Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez is pleased to announce the addition of a new streamlined, searchable database of 2009-2024 election results to the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters website. Called ElectionStats, the product is developed and maintained by Civera, a Boston-based company with a reputation for innovative civic technology. Read full story
Sonoma County issues mask order for health facilities and encourages residents to get vaccinated for flu and COVID
Given the greater risk of COVID, flu and other respiratory virus-related illnesses over the fall and winter months, Sonoma County Interim Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith issued an order today requiring health care personnel and others to wear masks inside patient care areas of specified health care facilities. The health order, designed to protect the most vulnerable populations, will take effect Nov. 1 and last through March 31, 2026. Read full story
