CDPH Warns Consumers Not to Eat Sport-Harvested Bivalve Shellfish from Sonoma County
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued a news alert on March 13 about positive testing for Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) toxins in Sonoma County shellfish. The CDPH is “advising consumers not to eat recreationally harvested mussels, clams, or whole scallops from Sonoma County.” The advisory does not apply to commercially sold shellfish from state-certified harvesters. CDPH Warns Consumers Not to Eat Sport-Harvested Bivalve Shellfish from Sonoma County
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat recreationally harvested mussels, clams or whole scallops from Sonoma County. Dangerous levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxins have been detected in mussels from this area. The naturally occurring PSP toxins can cause illness or death in humans. Cooking does not destroy the toxin. Read full story

Christopher GodleyTemporarily Named Interim Emergency Manager for Sonoma County
On March 12, 2018, Christopher Godley, a nationally respected emergency services leader, has been temporarily named the interim Emergency Manager of Sonoma County. Mr. Godley will take the helm of the Emergency Services Division for several months while the County conducts a national recruitment to find a qualified individual to serve as the permanent Emergency Manager.
