Blue-Green Algae Toxins Detected in Russian River
On Wednesday, July 26, 2017 DHS received test results indicatingthat a low-level of blue-green algae toxins are present in certain areas of theriver. In accordance with state guidance, the level of toxin present is enoughto trigger the posting of “Caution” signs. Signs in both English and Spanishwill be posted at the ten major beaches along the Russian River. Read full story

2017 Paving ProgramMoves Forward
On June 6th, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the first contracts of the 2017 Pavement Program, kicking off construction on 54.49 miles of roads this summer, as part of a 97 mile program approved by the Board last year. The remaining 42.51 miles are slated for construction in 2018. When the entire 2017 program is completed the County will have paved approximately 300 miles since the summer of 2013, funded with over $65 Million in General Fund Contributions from the Board of Supervisors. Tobacco Retail License Renewal
By June 30, 2017, all licensed tobacco retailers located in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County must renew their Tobacco Retail License from the Sonoma County Health Department in order to continue selling tobacco products (including electronic cigarettes). Read full story
