Wohler Bridge over Russian River in Sonoma County to close April 1 for construction work
SANTA ROSA, CA – The Wohler Road Bridge seismic retrofit project is entering its second and final year of construction. As part of this critical safety upgrade, the bridge over the Russian River will be closed to the public from April 1 to Oct. 15. Work will include replacing steel elements on the 103-year-old bridge, deck demolition and replacement, and pier footing retrofit. Read full story

The Sonoma County Department of Health Services (Department) is pleased to invite you to respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Stepping Up Workgroup Planning, Coordination, and Meeting Facilitation. This RFP seeks proposals to support grant implementation and activities for a State Hospitals Planning Grant with a focus on facilitation of the Stepping Up Workgroup which works to support improvement in the systems of care and resources provided to individuals with needs at the intersection of criminal justice and behavioral health. Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approves $5.6 million to fund mental health, homelessness projects
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved $4.2 million to fund local nonprofits working on projects that address behavioral health and homelessness solutions, and another $1.4 million in funding for homeless housing, assistance and prevention. The $4.2 million in funding is from Measure O, the sales tax measure that voters approved in 2020 to support mental health and homelessness services, while the $1.4 million comes from the State of California Interagency Council on Homelessness. Alert and warning test planned for part of Sonoma and Napa counties on March 27
The counties of Sonoma and Napa, along with local law enforcement and fire agencies will conduct a targeted emergency alert and warning test on Thursday, March 27. The exercise will be a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) for the evacuation zone of SON-6F4 located in Sonoma Valley, near the Sonoma-Napa county line. The alerts will be sent out from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This is not an evacuation exercise. This will only be a test of the alert and warning system. Read full story
Elderberry Commons completes transition to permanent supportive housing
The necessary renovations to Elderberry Commons in Sebastopol are now complete, and residents have begun moving into the permanent supportive housing site. The first residents began moving in on March 3, and the remaining residents are expected to complete their move by the end of the month. Read full story

Sonoma County reaffirms support for immigrant communities after ICE incident at Probation Department
The County of Sonoma is reiterating its commitment to all who are in need of services, especially immigrant communities, and providing guidance and support for County staff after an individual was detained Thursday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the lobby of the County Probation Department. Bay Area Health Officers urge measles vaccination and awareness as cases rise nationally
With the recent rise of measles cases nationally, Sonoma County joins Bay Area health officials in urging everyone to get the measles vaccination if they are not sure if they got it or if they did not have measles as a child, and to be aware of the signs and symptoms of measles after travel or exposure.
