For Immediate Release
Board of Supervisors to hold annual budget workshops April 28 - 30
SANTA ROSA, CA | April 22, 2025
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold its annual budget workshops on April 28, 29 and 30 to provide county residents an opportunity to learn about the 2025-26 fiscal year preliminary spending plan and provide input to the Board of Supervisors before it adopts a final budget in June. The County of Sonoma fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30. The workshops, which begin at 9 a.m. each day, are informational and the Board will not make any determinations for fiscal year 2025-26 until the June budget hearings. There will be an opportunity for public comment at the start of each day of the budget workshops.
“I believe it's essential that people have opportunities to shape the decisions that will impact our future,” said Supervisor Lynda Hopkins, chair of the Board of Supervisors. “The upcoming budget workshops are an opportunity for you to learn about how your tax dollars are being spent and to share your priorities with the Board of Supervisors. Together, we can ensure that the County budget reflects the values and needs of our entire community.”
The workshops will include presentations of preliminary 2025-26 budgets by each county department, including requests for budget changes that would expand or restore services. Board members will have an opportunity to ask questions, and the public is encouraged to provide input during the budget hearings in advance of final determinations.

The 2025-26 preliminary budget totals $2.6 billion, a 6.3 percent increase from the 2024-25 adopted budget. Much of this increase is related to the budgeting of Measure H Fire Services sales tax and the Measure I Childcare and Children’s Health sales tax. Both taxes are collected by the County and passed through to other entities. The fiscal year 2025-26 recommended budget will be available online on May 12. The Board of Supervisors will consider the recommendations, and any potential adjustments, during budget hearings that begin June 10.
