Foundations of Supervision II
This course is designed for individuals who have served in a supervisory role within a County department or special agency for less than one year AND have taken the Beginning Supervisory Skills course OR individuals who have served in a supervisory role for over three years. Course will include a discussion and practical exercise on how to effectively utilize resources to implement the County Safety Management Program and identify root causation in relation to workplace incidents, as well as:
- Advanced supervisory skills self-assessment
- Building relationships at all levels throughout the organization and with stakeholder groups
- Building effective work teams
- The importance of knowing the rules and acting ethically
- Becoming organizationally savvy
- Departmental strategic planning
- Using judgment and analytical skills to make decisions
- Facilitating important meetings within your agency, across multiple agencies and with stakeholder groups
- Effectively presenting your ideas to others; Influencing others, regardless of your position
- Ensuring you have the right positions and organizational structure to obtain maximum results
- Advanced coaching techniques
- Managing difficult conversations
- Measuring results of your work group
- Delivering exemplary, quality customer service; Increasing productivity within your work group and department/agency
- Championing change
- Action planning to improve supervisory skills
