Coastal Ecology Event at Doran Beach Sept. 6

Sea Otter Savvy and Sonoma County District 5 present the Coastal Ecology Pop-Up at Doran Beach, a free, hands-on day by the coast on Saturday, Sept. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants can explore interactive booths from local science organizations, businesses and community groups including The Marine Mammal Center, Saving Ocean Animals, Defenders of Wildlife, Kashiaepa, Bodega Bay Oyster Company and more.

Come learn about sea otters, their vital role in healthy ecosystems and why they’re still missing from Northern California waters. And don’t miss the Sea Otter Sand Castle Competition from 11 a.m. to noon.

Wildfire Risk Reduction Webinar Sept. 10

As Napa County continues to battle the #PickettFire, it’s a reminder for us here in Sonoma County to stay emergency ready. Wildfire season is here — are you prepared? Being ready can save lives, protect homes and keep our communities safer.
